Dear Tobs
it would have been great if i had more information to work with like your education level ,your skill set etc however i will advise based on the information provided.
The based way to get a job is to look for one in the area of your skill.
if you have searched in your area of skill and still don't have any offers, then you may need to learn a new skill that is relevant.
I understand that it is possible to study in a field that is kinda difficult to get a job. if you are in that situation you have to go learn a new skill. I will give you an example. I studied international Relations as my First degree because i wanted to be a diplomat in the future. In reality, it wasn't easy getting a job in that field so i immediately opted for other skills.
You may also be in a situation where your skill is no longer relevant in modern times, this also means that you have to go back to learn a new skill that is relevant now and in the nearest future.
Looking for a Job is an unpaid Job in itself so you must be dedicated and give it all your time. Send out a minimum of 50 targeted resumes a day. PS Don't just out out resumes to companies, look at the job description, ensure you have the necessary skill set, then customize your resume to that specific job.
Depending on your country of residence, look for organizations that help individuals look for jobs
Grow your network, be social and tell as many people as you can
Make sure that your resume is well written with no errors.
Look for an unpaid internship that is close to home where you could render your services free until they see the value and begin to pay you for it or you could just use it as an opportunity to grow your wealth of experience. While you waiting to get the unpaid internship / searching for a job, you can do other odd jobs like driving Uber, working at a factory etc to help you get by
Best of Luck

Good job! You nailed it. That was very comprehensive and to a large extent, it was all encompassing. Besides, it is better to be prepared for an opportunity and not get one than to get one and you are not prepared for it. So the self development should be on a daily basis as per working or preparing oneself towards a likely future interview.
