Have you ever heard of Coca-Cola, Sprite, Facebook, Pepsi, Samsung, Apple, Google, Amazon, Instagram, Microsoft, Lexus, Mercedes Benz or Toyota? I bet you have and even if you haven't heard all those names, you must have heard a few of those names.
These names are not just names anymore, they have become household brands known worldwide by millions of people. These brands cut across national boundaries, cultures and barriers.
These names didn't just wake up one day and become popular. They worked their way up that ladder. There was a time these names never existed and there was also a time no one knew what or who they were but now almost everyone in the world must have heard of these names one way or the other.
I know the names i listed are corporate brands but people are behind those brands and people made those brands what they are today and you too can leverage the power of branding, harness your potential and take charge of your life and business.
You don't have to be the richest man in the world or an artist or public speaker to have a personal brand. As long as you are human, you have an identity, you act in a certain way, you portray a certain image to the people around you and that my friend is a brand.
A brand is your identity. So do you have a name? Yes i think so then you must understand that you are a brand. The question is what type of brand are you?
You are not technically a product or a service but you are perceived in a similar way by people who come in contact with you. Hence the reason for personal branding.
When people meet you, what do they see or perceive?
What or who are you identified as?
Right now if people were to give you a feedback on your attitude and personality, What do you think their responses would be?
If at this point, you are not happy with who you have portrayed yourself to be, Stop everything you are doing and take a sheet of paper and list all the things you would like to start doing.
After that, paste it on the wall of your home, somewhere very visible to remind you of who you have decided to become and begin working towards everything on that list.
Have a clear vision and mission for your life and things you want to accomplish.
Set timelines that are reasonable and realistic
Understand that your brand cuts across your appearance, your behavior, your words, your actions, your associations and affiliations.
Your brand is a summary of you put together.
It doesn't matter if you were once perceived as a negative person, You can decide how you want to be perceived from today.
Remember that Today was the future sometime ago. You can start NOW. It is never too late to become a better you.
Lastly and very important in your personal branding goals, Learn to be loyal and kind to everyone around you. This will make you earn a good reputation and find favor.
Happy Monday People.
Lots of love
Adey
