How long should you invest your time in a dream?

I have been following your IG post and i see a lot of messages on not giving up on your dreams. i will like to find out how long one should keep trying before finally deciding that it is never going to work out?

Dear Babs

Thank you for writing me and thanks for following my Instagram page. first of all, i believe you should never give up trying to see your dreams succeed.  i think you should keep trying as long as it is something you are passionate about, makes you happy and there is a need for it.
Also you have to be consistent if you want your dreams to actualize in real time.  if you only do it once in a while, then you will only get results once in awhile. Put everything you have got to it and i can assure you that your pay day is closer than you think. Do not be afraid to fail. Success is the ability to go from one failure to another without the loss of enthusiasm. Also just because you are taking longer than others doesn't mean you have failed.  Remember that.....
I want to see you succeed. please write back and share your story with the world.
